Exciting news! We are thrilled to share that a new English 201A Learning Community has brought together students, tutors, and faculty for an enriching experience of writing support, socializing, delicious pizza, and camaraderie. During the September meeting (photos shown above), students from various 201A courses received genuine and personal help from tutors and English faculty alike on such subjects as topic choices, brainstorming essays, grammatical questions, and more. The photos above were taken during the September meeting.

We see the value of nurturing a supportive learning community for freshman English composition, as it fosters collaboration, enhances confidence, and cultivates a friendly learning environment. With such an inviting atmosphere, students can share ideas, provide constructive feedback, and enrich their writing experience. This communal approach not only helps to demystify the challenges of academic writing but also encourages students to take risks and experiment with their voices.

Please join us for our next get-together on Thursday, October 3rd, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Student Success Center and for every first Thursday of the month throughout the fall and spring semesters.

For questions, please reach out to the Faculty Advisor: Professor Matthew Fleming at mfleming@cuesta.edu.  For writing support at other times, please visit our amazing Writing Center Tutors.
